Curren$y
No offense to Cubic Zirconia, but the next night definitely surpassed last. We were having a listening party for Curren$y's new album, Pilot Talk. The show was down in the basement in the Under 100 stage. The place packed, and everyone was waiting for Curren$y. Everyone was stoked. SkiBeatz came down first and started doing his thing. The Curren$y came and started killing it. I squeezed myslef right upfront, practically ontop of Ski to get some photos of Curren$y. (I had the idea of getting a shot for Bluroc in mind.) In the midst of it all i took a look to my right and there's Dame himself chillin watchin his young artist do his thing. It seemed unreal, standing front row, shooting photos, with Curren$y, SkiBeatz, and Dame Dash just two feet to my right. Curren$y killed it and the show was rapped. From there, everyone went back upstairs and enjoyed the rest of their night. Overall just a dream day at work.

Cubic Zirconia was the next day, so i showed up to help set up for the show. The band was already at the gallery and had begun to set up themselves. I met each member of the band and they were really cool. As the night went on, everything was set up and the guests started arriving. The gallery filled up pretty quick. The crowd was cool and everyone was just chillin checking out all the work. The coolest part was probably the way the band members themselves were working the bar, making drinks for everyone that came to see them. The show started later and got pretty crazy. It was a good show and a good time.
My third i really got a good feel for the Gallery itself. With blank walls and floors the Gallery looked crazy sparkling white and fresh. The space was empty, in between exhibitions, and I got to see some new artists come in and install their work. A band called Cubic Zirconia was gonna play at the gallery the next day, so all the art was actually intertwined with the show. After a while i was sitting at the desk, when Trademark ran in all hyped and told me to grab my camera and get outside. I followed him out and saw a crazy delivery truck covered in popping graffiti parked right outfront. It worked as a perfect backdrop and i got some good shots of Trade chillin up against it. It was a good wrap for day three.
My next day blew my first day out of the water. I showed up, did some of the little jobs, the norm. We had another meeting today, same place, same crew, but completely different purpose. The one and only SkiBeatz was sayin goodbye to his girlfriend i guess who had been visiting or going away, i dont know i didnt understand completely, it was still just my second day. But here was the entire staff throwing together a big goodbye with wine, champagne, and cupcakes. Oh yeah her was Dame Dash making a nice goodbye speech and just chillin out, and then me..still in awe of everything. Day went on though and just got better. I met Trademark, a young rapper, and native to the gallery. A Tshirt company, called HotTea, was stoppin by the gallery, hooking Trade up with some of their stuff.
So, when i came in the next day, Nyssa gave me a few small jobs to do. I took out the trash, changed a few garbage bags, and stacked the fridge with a few cases of some new vitamin water that had been dropped off at the gallery. Then it was meeting time. staff meeting with a pretty cool twist. As the giant staff of creative control, the gallery, and everyone else gathered upstairs, a few announcement were made, and then Damon Dash himself, came from the back office and took over the meeting. I stood in awe, as the Dame Dash walked about the room and spoke about what he expected and wanted to see in the upcoming of the gallery and everything. It took me second to actually recollect and take it in that i was a part of the crowd Dame was speaking to, as an employee of Damon Dash, I was in shock.

First Day
I'm not going to lie when I entered the Gallery for my first day, I was completely scared. I had no idea what to expect. I was to be an assistant to Nyssa Frank, the Director of the Gallery, but what to do, I had no idea. Nyssa was extremely welcoming and as she described the situation of the Gallery I was really shocked. She explained that everyone in the gallery held a status of equality. Sounds corny, but its true. Even being the youngest kid in the entire Gallery, each day I feel fully respected and equally priveledged as anybody else. This is just the way of the gallery. As each and every person that works at the Gallery is exremely talented, everyone if given equal opportunity to anything that happens in the gallery. Nyssa gave an example of an upcoming call for a covershot for Bluroc Magazine and said that I would be able to give a photo. Could you imagine a 17 year old, first day on the job, and being offered an opportunity for a magazine cover? Where would ever be given that opportunity? I was ecstatic and from that point i knew that what the Gallery had in store for me would be great. That first was really an interview and i guess Nyssa wanted to get a feel for her new intern. I left high hopes and was told i would be working the following day.
